I'm Jackie, Cleanup Champion for the North East.
My background is in conservation work, but in recent years I have volunteered with AgeUK and the Trussell Trust. I enjoy hiking in the local area and taking long walks along our beautiful beaches. The coffee shops in the North East are of particular interest!
I try to reduce my impact on the environment by using public transport and I enjoy growing some fruit and vegetables at my allotment. I started litter–picking just after the Covid lockdown. It was a great opportunity to meet people and do something positive for the local area. The amount of rubbish that we collected was shocking, but the difference that we made was fantastic!
I’m looking forward to promoting the CleanupUK hubs and meeting people who want to make a positive difference to our local area.
