Our group is based at Langworthy Cornerstone Volunteer Centre and we call ourselves "Clean Up Salford" because that's exactly what we like to do.
Not only do we litter pick as our main activity, we also enjoy undertaking other outside tasks like cleaning & gardening in public areas and of course, enjoying a brew & eating cake as our reward after.
We also encourage other residents to team up and host events in problem areas that encourage them to litter pick regularly with our help.
Led by a passionate team of local residents, together with your help, we hope to transform our city so it can shine like Salford truly deserves.
If you would like to join us at events, volunteer regularly or contribute by donating, then please see our Link Tree website featured below for all our contact details.

🚨Long Post Alert🚨 Today was indeed a wet one, but that didn't stop myself & Carol Davies from litter picking in the rain, starting with Eccles New Rd, we also covered some of Regent Rd, Oldfield Rd and also the Islington Park area. 🌳 After an hour & a half hard at it, we stopped for a coffee and were joined by no less than 3 local councillors Brendan Keville, Liz McCoy & Tanya Burch who all took time out from their busy schedules to help us, Thank you to all of you, together we made a difference. 🙏 We decided to revisit Islington Park after myself, Brendan & Tanya had it looking spotless about a month ago and we were surprised it was looking a lot more cleaner and the litter we picked I would consider "Normal" with little back log to clear. 👍 Now needs some TLC like graffiti removal etc which we will arrange for our next visit. 👍 We collectively hauled in an AMAZING 20 Bags, most of them stuffed so full we could hardy tie them up! Special Kudos goes to our Liz who made sure the "Nit Picking" got done and also to our Carol for going off the planned route to grab a cheeky 2 bags worth from around the old Salford Royal - What a gal!! 👍 Cigarette butts are now becoming the main issues in all of the areas we cover so you will be hearing more about that from us and we also noted a lot of commercial plastics we suspect are coming from the regent road Costa Coffee which I will follow up with them in due course as it's not acceptable. VERY disappointed no residents joined us today or even showed an interest in attending, but I guess the wet weather put them all off? 🤷♂️ Well not us, Clean Up Salford are "Hard Core" and need more than a bit of rain to put us off our mission! For the next few weeks, Carol & I have decided to make a focused effort to give our section of Eccles New Rd some further TLC now we have raised a little bit of money to pay for the things we need. We have recently had all tree bases redone by the council, have some new street infrastructure to replace the old etc so we are going to be cleaning up the bins, getting rid of weeds & dirt accumulations and just generally giving her a good scrub and brush up as we want it looking pristine just like the Hollywood name a local building complex gives itself, so we might as well try living up to the name! Anyone free on Saturday 10am is more than welcome to join us, we're not advertising or holding an official event but we will be making sure the local food outlets are on hand to make sure we are supplied with warm soapy water for the bins, fed and watered because they are in the most part being supportive of what it is we do! Appreciation donations can now also be made on our GoFundMe page, please give a few quid if you can 👍 https://gofund.me/593dfa14 #cleanupsalford #keepbritaintidy #LitterHeroes #volunteersmakeadifference #wastewarriors

Clean Up Salford Is having an amazing week so far and have collected 30 Bags of litter since Monday, mostly from one of our scruffiest wards called Ordsall. Huge thanks to Chris who we helped shift 7 Bags from Robert Hall Street and also to Carol Davies & our team of 12 #wastewarriors from Primrose Hill Primary School who today helped us collect 8 bags from the school perimeter and side streets in less than an hour and every single one of them behaved! 😀 Don't forget we have a weekend community clean up planned this Sunday, meeting at 12pm at the Regent Road Costa Coffee and also we will be back in Ordsall next Thursday at 1230pm picking from our starting point of the Ordsall Community Art Centre 2 Robert Hall Street M5 3LT We would love to see you join us there! #cleanupsalford #lovewhereyoulive #keepbritaintidy #volunteersmakeadifference

What can we say but a multitude of thanks to both Andy Salter & Carol Davies from Love Your Planet Salford who also lead the Clean Up Salford community clean up group, based at Langworthy Cornerstone. Today they hauled in an impressive 12 rather full to the brim bags, 5 of which were collected by Primrose Hill Primary School after school club #wastewarriors! More pics from them shortly. Pleased to report ALL children were well behaved, did an amazing job at clearing the area we chose and are all getting excited about wanting a sparkling clean city (Their words, not ours!) 😀 Also, Don't forget, we are hosting another clean up event on Sunday for anyone looking to help clean up the Regent Rd area of the city, please see our events tab for more info. Last but not least, we are asking for public appreciation donations to support us as volunteers. We need equipment & tools to enhance our work. A list of what we need is on our GoFundMe page which you can scan through to using the scan tag or visit the following link if you are able to donate a few pounds. #cleanupsalford #Fundraising #givewhatyoucan #lovewhereyoulive #volunteersmakeadifference https://gofund.me/31c5f8c4

We have been busy chipping away keeping street litter down this week and delighted we had some mid week help from a team of corporate volunteers who joined us on Wednesday for both gardening & litter picking activities. Thanks to Rosie from Inspiring Communities Together for organising! 22 Bags over 4 days isn't bad going even if we do say so ourselves and hope the local residents who live near us and around the Langworthy Cornerstone area enjoy the cleaner scenes. In other news, we were also pleased to learn our group is now fully insured which has been paid for by the team at Love Your Planet Salford from their own private funds until grant monies become available and can't thank them enough for the support this will now give us. Our GoFundMe appeal is progressing further towards our target and we are over the moon to have hit our first £100 milestone on our fundraising journey. Anyone wishing to contribute to help assist us to pay for the tools & equipment we need, can easily do so using the link below that alsonexplains more about our mission to Clean Up Salford Have a fabulous weekend everyone, we will check in next week with further updates. #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive #LoveYourPlanet https://www.gofundme.com/f/cleanupsalford

Thanks to Andy Salter our Keep Britain Tidy #litterheroes ambassador & a mystery helpler for giving up their Bank Holiday Monday to pick some litter for us on behalf of Clean Up Salford this weekend. 6 Bags in total, mostly consisting of cans, bottles & take away wrappings. 3 separate piles of broken glass were all swept up making the areas clean & safe once again for our four legged friends. #cleanupsalford #LoveYourPlanet #lovewhereyoulive

This morning I met with Ordsall Labour to have a look at Rodney Street after several neighbourhood complaints about the area. I arrived to find a pop up park in a bit of a sorry state so 3 of us cracked on to clear it. The planter boxes were also in a terrible state so all 4 were taken care of and an abandoned sofa will be shortly reported. 11 bags in 2 hours wasn't a bad haul, Still a part of a carpark gully to clean but overall, was pleased with the result and walked home feeling happy we did the best we could to make it look nice. We have also had a first donation to our GoFundMe appeal which has made my day so far just perfect. Please see link for more details and share in your groups to help spread the word to the people who appreciate what we do 💚🌎💚 https://www.gofundme.com/f/cleanupsalford #cleanupordsall #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive

Yesterday I joined Rosie Leonard from Inspiring Communities Together and helped clear 3 bags of weeds from chimney pot park before we then hit the streets and picked off another 3 of litter. Then I took myself off to see The SG Gang - Buile Hill Sensory Garden Volunteers picking a bag of litter on my way there before getting stuck in to some dead heading, which I always find very therapeutic. #LitterHeroes #greenspaces #volunteersmakeadifference

After yesterday evenings litter pick of South Langworthy Rd I had a break and got back to it about 10pm until about 2am. Picked along the residential side of Eccles New Rd, then hit a bit of a grot spot on Trafford Rd by the Goodiers Drive area, the middle verges & some of the roundabout & slip rd after the weaste turning have all been cleared. Totally noticed that the tree bases along ENR have been tidied and fresh top soil now makes them look all even. Not sure if this is something the council periodically do but whoever done It has done a very neat and tidy job, thank you, now perfect for wildflower seeds next month ready for next year 💚 8 more bags collected, all bagged up & ready to go!!! #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive #volunteersmakeadifference

Today I picked both sides of South Langworthy Road all the way down to Sainsbury's Local & Back in one session. Totally smashed both sides of the Broadway Metrolink thanks to the help clearing it last week by the #CleanUpTheQuays gang, It's made me a happy chappy!👍 Also finally managed to get to grips with the back of a substation that I visited last year. Spent an hour pulling out old crud, buried bottles & duvets that stunk to high heaven 🤢 Found half a bed? A large gas bottle & a large plastic wheel thing I have no idea what it originally was.🤔 9 Bags in total, not bad for a Monday, what a great start to my week 👍 #cleanupsalford #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive

Today I cleared 7 bags from Eccles New Rd, Oldfield Rd, Half of Thurlow St & Also Amersham Park. Also 1 large gas cannister & £0.01 found to add to the charity kitty lol Decided to film the mess in Thurlow and upload it to YouTube to annoy the owners who have left a pigeon to rot outside all week. Amersham Park has clearly been picked clean, by whom will remain a mystery as the bin is not back yet. Are forhousing stepping up their game after our combined complaints and suggestion they pay someone to do it more often instead of taking advantage of us as volunteers? Lets hope so 🤞 Regent Rd looking bad again but wasn't about to start it either as we still have no bins which is annoying me!😤 #cleanupsalford #LitterHeroes #lovewhereilive
