We are a local group of volunteers that host group litter picks every Saturday and Sunday 8-10am.
Throughout the week we pick as individuals. We have created two native hedgerows on Elston fields, two raised beds on Marriott road. Cleared leaves, cut hedges and a communal garden. We filled 2,734 bags of litter in 2023 and 1,744 bags of green waste to improve our area. We encourage family participation and have kit to loan, providing a free activity for all.
The effect litter picking has on your mental and physical health is life changing, the sense of pride is a potent one.
You will meet new people, who quickly become friends.

I started this group with Gareth Norman in May 2023, I had been litter picking for 2 years previously. I wanted to do more, so I needed more help. I knew I loved to womble and would like everyone to try it, just once. The group has given us a platform to showcase what a phenomenal community we have here on the Saffron Ward. We are supported by our Cllr Cutkelvin and Cllr Cassidy, the Leicester city council and our peers.
