What is now known as St Nich's Litter Pickers started in 2021. Work was initially in the St Nicholas estate and the North of Stevenage.
The core of our work became Friday afternoon pick at 12.45 for an hour. By the end of 2022, we had cleared literally tons of rubbish from the estate.
We like to focus on the neglected places where rubbish accumulates: bushes, back streets and alleyways that get overlooked by council workers.
There are now over 30 people in the group and our range and ambition has spread. We now regularly work around Pin Green the Old Town and Town Centre, Fairlands Valley etc, but still have a focus on St Nich's and the North of the town.
As far as possible, Friday picks are posted on St Nich's Litter Pickers Facebook page each Wednesday to keep people informed of opportunities to join in.
