Didn’t get far on this community litter pick, the area around the Compton Centre was heavily littered. The Bellbrooke Car Park looked much better when we’d done.

This afternoon five of us braved the cold and drizzly weather around the Bellbrookes in Harehills – Keith Thompson, Montse Rey, Alison House, Cllr Luke Farley and myself, Sandra McLean. 19 purple bags filled which included ladies’ underwear, loads of vapes, an artificial Xmas tree and a broken plant pot. We had to tread carefully around the heavily littered open green space by the car park as there was so much dog waste and also on the pavements. This has been reported to the Leeds City Council's Dog Warden Team. There was also a property on Bellbrooke Place where some enforcement action is clearly required!

Two councillors joined our incredible local volunteers outside the Compton Centre for the regular Harehills litter pick. We covered Harehills Lane and the Bellbrookes, helping to improve the environment and make a positive difference to our local community. Huge thanks as ever to the Litter Free Leeds volunteers for all of their work - without them we would all be the poorer.

On sunny afternoon we had a successful litter pick in Burmantofts & Richmond Hill with dedicated volunteers from Litter Free Leeds. We collected 25 bags of litter, a plastic canister, a doll’shouse, two paint buckets and cleared random bits of fly-tipping, all reported to the Cleaner Neighbourhoods team. Thank you everyone 😊👏👏👏
