We are an active and vibrant community centre in the heart of Radford catering for a diverse number of groups, ages and ethnicities. We are active in community engagement and are hoping to build a better and more supportive environment for all. Radford is a fairly deprived area and has a big litter and fly-tipping problem. We are hoping to encourage people to take a pride in their neighbourhood through various means including having community plant tubs, a community garden/allotment.

Today I had regular weekly recruit from the early stages of my Radford Big Tidy event, Kath join me along with fellow organiser Rebecca from Purdy's Pet Shop and our newest recruit Janis, who we've been anxiously waiting on since June as she has a caravan by the seaside. Worth the wait, she brings along her four-legged friend Casey - one of Rebecca's customers !!! As I was early I went to check out the car park beside the Community Centre, as I could also hear work going on, and saw there was a team out strimming the shrubs at the Adult Education Centre there. Good to know we could retrieve some buried litter, and also a tray of 'good' drinking glasses + some crockery for anyone who required them at the Community Centre donation table. As I'd completed the grassed circuit and inner kerbside before the others arrived, Janis + Casey took one outer circuit, and Rebecca + I took the other, including the addition of the entry beside Texaco up to the cross behind the residential and businesses. This entry is opposite to the one cleared last week and MUCH worse. Next on our list of To-do's. Kath did the sections in front of Tesco's and Asda

Links Rd and section of Jubilee Crescent shopping area. We decided to make a bigger difference and start sweeping the kerbside. On Links Rd from Telfer Rd the length of the community centre car park wall, around in front of JCC along to Tesco access entry, all detritous cleared whilst only a few shoppers parking up. Kath took 2 hours to do along Links Rd from home (usually takes half hour, but roadworks and school holiday) 4 bags, a nitrous canister and a wood post. 3 hours.
