Big Tidy Up

Joining forces with the Benfieldside, Blackhill, Bridgehill & Shotley Bridge Community Partnership for this event. Meet at the Baptist Church Hall on Pemberton Road at 9.30am. Finish by 12.00 noon. Groundwork North East and Durham County Council are also assisting. Bring gardening gloves - all other equipment provided. All children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Teams were sent out to the 'litter hotspots' that had been identified by survey. Thanks to the Consett Rugby club [U17 & U18 teams] for volunteering and Groundwork North East for helping to organise. Groundwork, CPRE Durham Branch and Durham County Council helped provide the equipment. 75 volunteers took part and nearly 150 bags of litter were collected throughout the whole of the Partnership area..

Mid Sussex Litter Busters
We are a group of local residents concerned about litter spoiling our environment. Our aim is to keep our area of Mid Sussex looking clean, tidy and litter free resulting in a more pleasant and safe environment for everyone and its wildlife to live in. We have 26 active litter pickers each one of whom takes responsibility for a stretch of road or an area of green space. We meet occasionally to review tactics and to swop ideas. We have a massive litter pick once a year to shift an area of accumulated rubbish. We have good relations with the Parish Council and the local authority who are great at clearing flytipping when we inform them.

Cleveland Park Residents' Association
We are a small residents association who hold monthly events to improve our area by planting tree pits and troughs, picking up litter and encouraging everyone to keep their front gardens neat and tidy.

Penarth Beach Wardens
The Beach Wardens at Penarth are all unpaid volunteers who give up some of their free time to help keep Penarth beach free of litter. The group are independent of both the local town council and the county council but all Wardens are members of the Penarth Civic Society, which covers the general administration for the group, negotiates licences and other working relationships with beach owners and local authorities, and pays the necessary insurance premiums.

North West London Clean Up
If you're reading this you're probably already aware that there is a serious litter problem and something must be done! As well as solo daily pickings while walking the dogs, I'm also organising various community clean-ups, mostly a monthly one at the Welsh Harp.
