Great British September Clean in Eastfield Park Northampton

17 Debdale Road ,Northampton,NN3 2TR

18 Sep 2020

23:00

The Friends of Eastfield Park (FoEP) are supporting the ‘Great British September Clean’ but, because of Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to organise a full-scale community clean-up. Instead, we encourage individuals, pairs, or family groups to carry out their own litter-picks in the Park on 18th, 19th or 20th September. If you collect on one of these three days you may leave your sacks of litter piled up at the Skiddaw Walk entrance to the Park; if you collect on a different day, you will need to make your own arrangements for disposing of the collected litter. For more information and advice about litter picking during the continued Covid-19 pandemic, visit our new website: www.foep.co.

uk Join in and Make a Difference! THE GREAT BRITISH SEPTEMBER CLEAN: A 'Task Force' consisting of six people (5 FoEP Volunteers & the Park Ranger) spent a total of 14 hours in Eastfield Park litter picking and removing some larger items of rubbish including two mattresses, metal blinds, assorted clothing, remains of a child's bike, plastic & metal wheels, a sheet of vinyl, car tyres, the base of a revolving chair and sacks of fly-tipped clay. Other fly-tipped rubbish was reported by the Park Ranger for action. Eight sacks of litter were collected but this only represents part of the FoEP achievement during the Great British September Clean; one member had collected a sack of litter during the week, another was out collecting as the 'task force' finished work, and others will be out collecting litter on 20th September. It is likely that more have been out collecting litter without my knowledge. Please let us know if you have been litter picking in Eastfield Park - number of hours spent collecting and number of sacks filled. A big 'thank you' to everybody involved..

North West London Clean Up
If you're reading this you're probably already aware that there is a serious litter problem and something must be done! As well as solo daily pickings while walking the dogs, I'm also organising various community clean-ups, mostly a monthly one at the Welsh Harp. I have lots of equipment which I'm very happy to lend out, as well as welcoming suggestions for other areas that need a clean-up. Please contact if you wish to get involved.

South Common Litter Picking Crew
I set up the group on realizing there were areas of Lincoln's South Common where litter had been accumulating for years. We have managed to get on top of this situation and are now kept busy due to litter being left around the ponds and viewpoints around the common throughout the year . Since I started picking it I've seen weasels fighting, dear, buzzards and kestrel, herron, partridge and pheasants which, for me, makes it one of the most enjoyable places to pick in Lincoln.

The Green Army
The Green Army has been founded to tackle litter along rural routes around the villages of Harrold, Odell and Carlton in Bedfordshire. Roadside verges leading in and out of these villages will be targeted in a bid to keep our surrounding countryside clean and beautiful, and to provide safe habitats for local wildlife. Any public footpaths or bridleways will also be freed of litter as the need arises. If you are a local resident interested in joining this group please get in touch!
