Litter Picking Group

Fishponds Clean Streets

378 bags collected so far!

On our 29th April we were again a small and again perfectly formed group of 3 (would have been 4 but for an unreliable timepiece!) for our Litter Pick. Meeting at the Fish on its Nose we covered part of the cycle track leading to Hockey\'s Lane. From there we went along Fishponds Road, Grove Road, Grove Park Terrace, Lodore Road and Brentry Road. As we were few we just filled 2 sacks of waste and 2 of recyclables.
Our next Litter Pick date is yet to be fixed, so please keep an eye on this site for updates.

Fishponds Clean Streets was established in 2016 and is run by a few volunteers with the aim of helping keep the streets cleaner of litter.

We usually meet for an hour and a half on a Saturday morning once a month and always publicise our litter picks here on this page, where we also report on our activity after each litter pick.

In the meantime, if you are new to litter picking in Fishponds and interested in getting involved, please contact us at:

30 March 2019

The next litter pick will be on Saturday 30th March, when we are meeting 11am at Straits Parade near the bus stop. Many thanks to those who helped out at this litter pick - we were 8 in all and collected 6 sacks of rubbish and 5 of recycling. Of the more unusual finds, some of us came across a surprising number of gloves in a range of bright colours! They were mostly the medical type, but one of the sort for keeping hands warm.

27 April 2018

The next Litter Pick will be on Saturday 28th April, meeting at 11am at the 'Fish on its Nose' sculpture on the cycle track near Morrisons filling station. We had a fantastic turnout of 10 people and working in pairs we filled 12 sacks - about half rubbish and half recycling. Most of the areas we covered had less litter than on previous occasions which was heartening and made us feel that our work is effective. Thanks everyone!
