Join us - we’re a collection of volunteers who want to make our area a better, cleaner and more social place! We are working on tackling litter & flytipping, restoring access to pavements, establishing a community hub, bringing back some form of banking and brightening up our area with our creative team. We are organsing the community to regenerate Ball Hill and build a sense of pride through collaboration!
Join us at our monthly litter picks on the first Sunday of every month at 1pm at the 2-Tone Village on Walsgrove Road, or you can get in touch to set up your own litter pick locally.
We have now established a Clean Up Hub at All Saints St Margaret's Church (50 Walsgrave Rd) with litter picking and gardening equipment so that people from the local community can access these tools. For drop-in times check in with the hub. Alternatively check in on the Destination Ball Hill website, Facebook or Instagram.

7 bags of litter were picked along Walsgrave Road. Also, 2 bags of wet clothing, cardboard boxes and litter was collected at the side of William Hill and were put into their large commercial bin along with a hypodermic syringe which did have a cover on it. It’s quite annoying that people dump their rubbish here and drug dealers operate here along with people using balloons and nitrous oxide. If William Hill took responsibility and put a strong fence up none of this would be able to happen. The soaking wet mattress was too heavy to move so was left there. We’ve complained several times and nothing gets done sadly. Afterwards the pickers met up at 2-Tone cafe and were treat to coffee courtesy of a guy called Suky. Most gratefully received.

Cleaned along Walsgrave Road. Picked up piles of wet clothing, small kitchen items and a tall (approx 5’) thick aluminium tube (looked like a small chimney) from the side and rear of William Hill betting shop in St. Osburgs Road. There was packs of meat, bacon, burgers, sweetcorn and chips that were there too. Possibly shoplifted from the local supermarket. A pile of dog mess was on the pavement which was sickening. Kevin, the guy from the waste disposal unit kindly stopped and put all our bags on his truck and took it all away. We had a meeting afterwards where we said goodbye to a lady from Grapevine who helped us get started 3 years ago. She is leaving to have her baby. We got her gifts, cards and money. Also the lady who runs 2-Tone made cakes for the occasion which were really lovely.

Litter picked from the bus stop down to Britain Road. 2 new pickers today Greg and his daughter Nora who both worked very hard. Members of the public thanked us for doing the pick. We put a nitrous oxide bottle at the side ready to be collected. Went back to the 2-Tone cafe where we had refreshments provided by the same kind gentleman followed by a meeting.. A lady called Lori from Warwick university attended our meeting explaining she would be running a workshop later this month and in September discussing tackling carbon emissions. 4 of us had a walk around to discuss where we are going to place some more planters

Litter picked along Walsgrave Road cleared a large amount of cans, bottles, vapes and litter from the planters and around the William Hill betting shop. Plus general pick along the road. Moved a car parcel shelf and a broken bin lid to the pick up area. Jac and a colleague came along to see how we operate our clean up. Lovely meeting you both. Had a meeting after the pick and refreshments courtesy of Sukhi. Next pick is 1st June.

Met at 2-Tone, signed in, then went to our new hub to collect equipment at St. Margaret’s church. Flower beds were heavy laden with bottles, cans vapes and paper litter. By the side of William Hill was bottles some broken some not, used dust-pan and brush to get all the fragments up. 3 young boys helped for a few minutes voluntary which was quite refreshing. Lots of take-away litter and cans and broken glass and rear light glass off a car that was attacked in the week. Looks much better. Not sure for how long. The weather was lovely and we met up after the pick for our usual monthly meeting at 2-Tone cafe. Thank you once again for free refreshments. See you all next month.

Firstly a massive thank you St. Margaret’s Church for allowing us to erect a brand new storage shed in their locked up grounds. A huge thank you to James and Anton who spends weeks clearing the area putting a base down and slabbing it. We can now store our litter-pick equipment in there instead of taking it home - bonus. Spent a lot of time around the 2 bus stops at the top of Ball Hill. Lots of bottles, cans and vapes in the planters. Used the heavy brush to brush around the area lots of cigarette ends and litter stuck to the pavement’s and paths. All drains completely blocked with rubbish. Large piece of chip-board just left there rotting for people to trip over. Left both areas looking good. Lots of rubbish around and behind those commercial bins and just left anywhere. A good day considering there was only 7 of us. Went into 2 -Tone for a meeting and the same guy paid for our teas and coffees as he does every litter pick. Most gratefully received.

Litter picked Walsgrave Road from Harefield Road up to Argyll Street. Heavily littered around the bus stop (lots of full jars, tins, sachets and rotted food peelings absolutely awful), the Old Ball Public House and opposite by the post office going towards the zebra crossing. Overflowing commercial bins and other rubbish in this area. It appears to be getting worse each time we do the monthly litter pick. Next litter pick will be Sunday 6 January 1-2 then meeting afterward. The new shed to store our equipment in has been ordered and is due this week. Once erected all our equipment will be stored there permanently.

Our monthly litter pick today we collected litter, cigarette ends, foliage and a few dumped items. Our planters were slightly overgrown so they were trimmed back for safety reasons. Of the 5 new people that attended 3 were children. A guy from the council picking up waste on his normal round took our bags away which was a blessing (thank you), perfect timing. We then had a meeting afterwards at the 2-Tone cafe where drinks were provided free of charge.
