Welcome to 2025!! A huge thank you to all (15 adults, 8 children and 2 dogs) of you who braved the beautiful but absolutely freezing conditions to collect 18 sacks of rubbish (where does it all come from?) from Hilly Fields and the surrounding streets. On top of this 7 further sacks and dumped items were collected by our Carole and Gill on Lancaster Road. Some of the dumped items have been returned to the relevant resident on Lancaster Road. The level of dumping and litter is rising so rapidly that we have requested, via our Ward Councillors, a meeting with Enfield Council. The Council cannot continue like this. Something needs to be done to; Educate new members of the community who do not yet know we do not tolerate dumping and throwing litter. Reviewing number of bins in the streets. Reviewing residential rubbish collections. How to stop dumping. It is not right or fair for residents and the Council to rely on these volunteers to pick up other peoples immoral behaviours.

Storm Darragh may well have stopped our actual litter pick but we still had our Christmas Hilly Fields Community Litter Pick today. We are 5 in April and in that time we have collected 3471 sacks of rubbish, not including the dumped items we have pulled out of hedges, verges, rivers and streams. When I started the group never in my wildest dreams did I think that the group would; Include 83 members and 6 furry friends That it would make such a difference to Mother Earth Inspire 4 other groups to start up Be responsible for 12 Duke of Edinburgh candidates Include on average 10 small Earth Angels at every pick Increase civic pride at such an alarming rate Run litter picking sessions with our local primary school Help with litter picking at a number of Scouting groups Most importantly build a phenomenal group of friends who are there for each other and create possibly the most wonderful community spirit I have ever seen. I am so incredibly grateful and proud of all our members who go above and beyond to keep EN2 as clean as possible. Not an easy task with the amount of residents who sadly do not care and the Council ‘not having the resources’ to keep up with these residents behaviours. A special thank you to A&R Designs, The Rotary Club and The Rose and Crown, EN2 9AJ for their constant and wonderful support of our group. To CleanupUK for all they do to promote a tidier Britain and support the work we do. To my most amazing Council men, who do everything they can to collect rubbish collected as soon as we report it. Their hard work does not go unnoticed. Finally to Father Christmas. Who is so incredibly generous with his time each year to come and deliver presents to the volunteers as a small token of the huge gratitude that they all deserve. If you would like to be involved please do PM me, we are always looking for new Earth Angels who have big hearts and big smiles. From our community group to you all, wishing you all a blessed and happy 2025. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

Yesterday approximately 30 Enfield superstars , including 4 new Duke of Edinburgh candidates cleaned Hilly Fields and the surrounding area. Taking advantage of the lack of ground level green foliage to collect 17 sacks of rubbish, a bin lid and bread tray. Hard to believe that this is the penultimate litter picker of 2024. If you would like to join us next year or need support for a Dule of Edinburgh award, scouting group activity etc please do either contact myself (Jessica Jameson) or come along to one of our super inclusive, friendly and earth changing picks. Noted below are the dates for Hilly Fields but also our sister groups Lancaster Road and Lavender Hill. Please double check locations and dates to ensure you attend the right group/date. 🙏🏻

I was volunteering in the fields early one day When my eyes beheld an eerie sight For some dirty monsters had left an unearthly mess And suddenly, to my surprise Hilly Fields Community Litter Picking group did the dirty monster clean up mash (The Monster Mash) it was a Hilly Fields smash Hilly Fields Halloween Special! 20 full sacks of rubbish from Hilly Fields and Whitewebbs collected by nearly 40 witches and zombies. It is because of these amazing volunteers that EN2 looks less ghoulish today! If you would like to join our amazing group please do group Jessica Jameson a message as we are always looking for new friends 🙏🏻

Wow!! As the final sunshine is enjoyed and the bushes start retreating over 40 Earth Angels came together to collect 42 bags of rubbish, 5 number plates, 8 canisters and a huge water tank! 4.5 years on and still these amazing people never cease to amaze me. We were blessed with Enfield Town Barclays Bank and The Nightingale Society joining us today at Hilly Fields. Thank you for all you did today. There really is no excuse for the filth that some Enfield residents are happy to live in and contribute too. We also celebrated 8 Virgos in the group and 6 of our amazing small people who Blue Peter agreed deserved a silver Blur Peter Badge for making such a difference. If you would like to be an Earth Angel please do contact us as we are always looking for more halo owners.
