Hey, hey, hey we are 5 this month!! 5 wonderful years of Hilly Field (Enfield EN2), Community Litter Picking Group looks something like this…. Over 3200 sacks of rubbish collected. A WhatsApp Group of 70 active members. 822 followers on Facebook. Earth Angels of all ages, abilities, genders, races, religions and dogs welcomed with open arms. We don’t need a Diversity Plan we just welcome everyone with a desire to make a real difference. Immeasurable amounts of dumped items cleared including, fridges, fish tanks, porches, kitchens, building materials, bikes, traffic management items and my absolute favourite a foxes skull. Manage the site rubbish clearance for our super amazing Livestock Festive at Forty Hall in Enfield. 4 babies have been born. A regular attendance of at least 25 people per pick. The area has grown to cover a third of EN2. Three off shoot ‘sister’ groups. Becoming a hub where we lend out our equipment to other groups. A Ward Councillor WhatsApp group to report repeat offenders. 6 Duke of Edinburgh’s completed. Just as important friendships have been made, community spirit and civil support has been incredible. We didn’t even stop during the pandemic. Social distanced litter picking and individual picks continued. I started the group in April 2019 to do my bit for our beloved Hilly Fields and Mother Earth. I could have never have guessed what we would become. The group inspire me daily by their dedication to the cause. Many members undertake litter picking and dumping clearance on a daily basis. It is so important to remember that each member is an actual Earth Angel teaching uneducated adults and impressionable small people how everyone should act 🙏🏻. As well as each of our members I would like to thank on all our behalf; A&R Designs for their constant financial support. Botany Bay Farm for their financial support and for printing the leaflets. To the Enfield Council officers I work with daily support of what we do and their quick response to clear the rubbish we collect and dumping we report. To the Rose And Crown⁩ PH for their constant support of what we do and opening the Rose and Crown PH for our special events. For Father Christmas taking time out of his busy schedule to come and say thank you personally. To CleanupUk for their support and advertising from day one. To the Rotary Club and Friends of Hilly Fields for their contribution of needed equipment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Here is to the next year! Can we hit 6000 bags by our 6the anniversary?? Let’s hope that we do not need to. If you would like to join our group please do contact myself. Everyone is always welcome. If you would like to start your own litter picking group please do ask if I can help. 🙏🏻❤️

20 crazy cats and kittens (and 3 dogs) faced the rain this morning and collected 15 bags of rubbish from Hilly Fields and the surrounding streets. So sad that so many people just don’t care what others go through to pick up their rubbish and dumped items. Thank you rain drenched Earth Angels 🙏🏻

Roses are red Violets are blue What would Hilly Fields and EN2 do without angels like you! 💖🙏🏻💖 An unexpected and incredible pick today with 40 bags collected, 5 newbies, a few less regular families. Thank you all so much, it was wonderful. A special huge thank you to four of our regulars who went above and beyond and cleared this up from Glenville Road. Whoever did this should be utterly ashamed of yourselves, because of you our children and pets were put in danger. How dare you think this behaviour is permitted in our community.

Well that’s it 2023 is officially all litter picked out (we wish!). A massive thank you to everyone not only for today but always. It is because of you that our lovely EN2 is cleaner and our children are learning how to be kind and respectful Earth Angels. It was only right that Father Christmas came to say an extra special thank you. About 35 people came today and I believe they collected 20 bags of rubbish. I didn’t get a photo as Enfield Council were super prompt and took all the bags away before I got one. However, we did bump into Richard and his group of litter pickers who pick Forty Hill and the surrounding area. They came and joined us! With special thanks as ever to; The Rose and Crown, EN2 9AJ for hosting and all they do to support us and enhance our local community. We are incredibly lucky to have you in our community. A&R Designs and Botany Bay Farm and Shop for all your support buying the gifts. We couldn’t do it without you. To my extra special Enfield Council staff who are just phenomenal in the support they give to me and to our group. Your had work and support does not go unnoticed. Wishing you all the most blessed Christmas and an utterly beautiful 2024. Life is so short so be kind to each other and another Earth. If you would like to join the best community group in Enfield (I am biased but it is true 🤭) please see attached poster or get in touch. 🙏🏻

19 November 2023

On Sunday the 2023 penultimate community litterpicking occurred in Hilly Fields and the local area and 10 large sacks of rubbish were collected. Next April we are 5 and in this time the last year has seen a phenomenal rise in dumping. There are so many reasons as to why this is occurring, but in my humble opinion residents have to take responsibility and stop treating Enfield as a large bin. From bags of household rubbish to mounds of unwanted furniture we are starting to live in an unsightly neighbourhood. This team of Earth Angels continue to do their bit not only one Sunday a month but every single day. These people deserve the loudest of cheers for the hundreds of hours volunteering they undertake trying to keep EN2 beautiful and safe from those who have no respect for our community and open spaces. Thank you for all you do. 🙏🏻

‘I was working in Hilly Fields late early in the morning light. When my eyes beheld an eerie sight For some dirty monsters fcame out from their vans and car and began to dump their rubbish near and far. And suddenly to my surprise. 15 Earth Angels dressed for Halloween appeared and did an hour long dash. They did the litter picking mash, it was a Lavender Hill graveyard smash They did the mash, they caught all 15 bags of rubbish in a flash They did the mash, but they didn’t take cash!’

16 July 2023

With The Gregory gang hosting our super world famous The Friends of Hilly Fields band stand summer event next Sunday, it was time for 30 EN2 Earth Angels to done their pickers and get out and clean up the local area. A phenomenal 27 full bags of rubbish, estate agent boards and a microwave were collected. A large number of cupboards were tidied and reported to the council too! It may be a never ending task but because of these amazing humans Hilly Fields and the area between Browning Road, Lancaster Road and Brigadier Hill looks much more inviting today. If everyone picked up just one piece of litter a day just imagine how beautiful Mother Earth would be 🙏🏻❤️
