This morning I met with Ordsall Labour to have a look at Rodney Street after several neighbourhood complaints about the area. I arrived to find a pop up park in a bit of a sorry state so 3 of us cracked on to clear it. The planter boxes were also in a terrible state so all 4 were taken care of and an abandoned sofa will be shortly reported. 11 bags in 2 hours wasn't a bad haul, Still a part of a carpark gully to clean but overall, was pleased with the result and walked home feeling happy we did the best we could to make it look nice. We have also had a first donation to our GoFundMe appeal which has made my day so far just perfect. Please see link for more details and share in your groups to help spread the word to the people who appreciate what we do 💚🌎💚 https://www.gofundme.com/f/cleanupsalford #cleanupordsall #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive

Yesterday I joined Rosie Leonard from Inspiring Communities Together and helped clear 3 bags of weeds from chimney pot park before we then hit the streets and picked off another 3 of litter. Then I took myself off to see The SG Gang - Buile Hill Sensory Garden Volunteers picking a bag of litter on my way there before getting stuck in to some dead heading, which I always find very therapeutic. #LitterHeroes #greenspaces #volunteersmakeadifference

After yesterday evenings litter pick of South Langworthy Rd I had a break and got back to it about 10pm until about 2am. Picked along the residential side of Eccles New Rd, then hit a bit of a grot spot on Trafford Rd by the Goodiers Drive area, the middle verges & some of the roundabout & slip rd after the weaste turning have all been cleared. Totally noticed that the tree bases along ENR have been tidied and fresh top soil now makes them look all even. Not sure if this is something the council periodically do but whoever done It has done a very neat and tidy job, thank you, now perfect for wildflower seeds next month ready for next year 💚 8 more bags collected, all bagged up & ready to go!!! #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive #volunteersmakeadifference

Today I picked both sides of South Langworthy Road all the way down to Sainsbury's Local & Back in one session. Totally smashed both sides of the Broadway Metrolink thanks to the help clearing it last week by the #CleanUpTheQuays gang, It's made me a happy chappy!👍 Also finally managed to get to grips with the back of a substation that I visited last year. Spent an hour pulling out old crud, buried bottles & duvets that stunk to high heaven 🤢 Found half a bed? A large gas bottle & a large plastic wheel thing I have no idea what it originally was.🤔 9 Bags in total, not bad for a Monday, what a great start to my week 👍 #cleanupsalford #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive

Today I cleared 7 bags from Eccles New Rd, Oldfield Rd, Half of Thurlow St & Also Amersham Park. Also 1 large gas cannister & £0.01 found to add to the charity kitty lol Decided to film the mess in Thurlow and upload it to YouTube to annoy the owners who have left a pigeon to rot outside all week. Amersham Park has clearly been picked clean, by whom will remain a mystery as the bin is not back yet. Are forhousing stepping up their game after our combined complaints and suggestion they pay someone to do it more often instead of taking advantage of us as volunteers? Lets hope so 🤞 Regent Rd looking bad again but wasn't about to start it either as we still have no bins which is annoying me!😤 #cleanupsalford #LitterHeroes #lovewhereilive

Today it was nice to meet up with a few councillors for a post election catch up on all things litter as promised & some light picking in an area were trying to keep improved on Regent Road. Was pleasantly surprised the volume of litter in general was to my reckoning "acceptable" which is down to the sheer hard work us volunteers are putting in week in week out to keep it at bay. Not so pleased to see the black bag dumper is still at large and was able to point this out first hand. The Selco bus stop in terms of litter was as predicted, not at acceptable levels and I also pointed out the lack of green space management here exacerbates the problem. 10 Bags in total, some road signs I've reported for the 3rd time and a hub cap we've decided to save for use in a litter art project rather than it go to landfill. 1 Large gas cannister also left I'm also trying to find a 2nd use for 🤔💭🤔. Left the area pleased with how it's looking, noticed on the way home some shrubs have been cut back, revealing some hidden litter I've never beem able to get at so will revisit in the week before it starts to grow back 👍 Hope everyone had a productive weekend, I sure did 💚 #LitterHeroes #cleanupordsall #volunteersmakeadifference #loveyourplanet

Mad Monday as usual, Street litter was a doddle thanks to someone else doing a bag which greeted me this morning on my way up to make sure Langworthy Cornerstone area was picked to being practically clinically free from anything litter related! Lol Amersham Park was very light on litter thanks to our Neil, considering it still has no bin, thought I would check on it and was pleasantly surprised it didn't take too long 🥰 Did the "My Street" area and whilst I've noticed significant improvements, 1 corner resident has got about 50 fag butts on the path and gutter where they are clearly lobbing them, despite my initial meticulous clearing of them! Well, I chose to leave all of them, stop and take my time taking pictures (more than I needed) as I could hear they were home so might of just seen me out the window??? I'll give them 1 more chance to take the hint or I've had enough, They can be reported as can the resident on Liverpool St not responding to our efforts! I have also reported on X/Facebook: Single black bag dumped on Amersham Park Rd benches. Neil Joseph or any other locals, if you see this please don't remove it or rebag it, Enforcement team will get to it and check the contents for an address. Flytipped household waste in Liverpool St, have requested enforcement look into it as it's a problem area. Flytipped Armchair & Mattress reported last week also chased up. Picked 6 bags in total which will teach me to take the weekend off from picking as it's usually only 3 on a Monday Ha Ha Oh well, I recycled at least another 2 bags on top I'm pleased about 💚🌎💚 #LitterHeroes #lovelangworthy #LoveParks

8 Bags today picked from Langworthy, nothing exciting found, got a toot from a bloke in a dark blue van with Salford City Council on it? Haven't a clue who they were but nice to be recognised by the one team I feel we are helping to support the most with the endemic littering issue this city has clearly had for many many years. Got a few "Your doing a great job" comments from passers by as well so thanks to them for at least noticing and was also good to see signs of more streets remaining more or less litter free and looking respectful. Wish the mini supermarket on Liverpool St would come on board with the transformation, but despite having words, they are choosing to let the front of their store continue to look a disgrace so they are on my radar for further complaints until they at least give it a proper sweep and wash down. Enjoy your evening peeps #LitterHeroes #LoveWhereYouLive #loveyourplanetsalford

Amazing effort was put in by all volunteers involved today over in Weaste where a team from ITV Media City took advantage of one of their 2 volunteer days to come and help us out. The bags were so numerous we didn't count them but am guessing a good 85 bags were hauled, if not more, off of the green space area we chose that was in need of some TLC. Before & After pictures to follow, the rain held off for the whole session so everyone went home dry, if not a little exhausted as a lot of what we collected was buried underneath the soil. Once again, well done everyone, this is our biggest single pick so far in terms of our bag count, bringing our collective total since April to 435 bags 😅😅😅 #LitterHeroes #lovewhereyoulive #loveyourplanet

There is a little Greenspace near me off Kirkham Rd I visited Sunday to start picking and abandoned the job as it was strewn with laughing gas cannisters so popped home for a strong bag. I was going to clear it on my return from doing the Dolbey Rd Ginnel from Hell but was so knackered, I thought it could wait so returned today to find the Cannisters all thrown back in the verges and the mower person who must of been yesterday just then shredded all the cardboard boxes that were in their path. DISGUSTED an understatement! Anyway, rant over, 2 full bags and I didn't even do the street which is just as disgusting so shame on all the residents here for not doing it! Spend a few hours picking out buried bottles, plastic bags and god knows what else like tuppaware & china and also dug out every vape and bottle top that was visible. Needs a revisit as a few tree bases are being used as bins so will prune back so I can both see it and hopefully deter the louts from leaving it in the first place. Hopes of Sunshine this afternoon so I am off back out to sort out another grot spot. 🥰 Andy S

Monday Morning mooch around Buile Hill Park for a walk of some of the nature trail and a litter pick with Rosie Leonard, Jo from Inspiring Communities Together & a few new volunteers. Was very pleased to see the inside of the park more or less litter free although I wish I could say the same for the walking route we took from Langworthy Rd and along Eccles Old Rd to the park entrance, it was in it's usual scruffy state I had to leave some or else lagg behind. Picked a bag on my way home as well, along the Seedley side, could of done more as lots of street litter around but the heavens opened 🌧️ #LitterHeroes #LoveParks #lovenature #worldwellbeingweek2024
